We are often reluctant to open ourselves to the world. But it is by doing so that we can resolve our issues and move from where we are to where we want to be.
Throughout our lives we make choices, encounter challenges and find ourselves in situations which threaten our satisfaction, contentment and happiness. Your counselling session will typically involve a discussion identifying areas of concern which are contributing to a lack of satisfaction with some areas(s) of your life.
The discussion will also usually involve an exploration of possible steps to be taken by you the client to improve your life circumstance. It is important for you to explain to Patrick what you expect to gain from the counselling experience.
It is important to be aware that there are no guarantees in counselling and you need to be aware that the process may bring to the surface some uncomfortable feelings. So if you have important tasks to be done following a counselling session (for example, an important business meeting), it is important to discuss this with Patrick.
Counselling is a cooperative process and so to get the most out of it, it is recommended that you attempt to share information, thoughts and feelings to a level enabling progress to be made. Further, if you have doubts or concerns at any stage of the process, it is important that you discuss these with Patrick.
